My crazy life.

I almost forgot you existed little blogspot. Life has been so crazy lately, I haven't had time to breathe-let alone blog! I didn't think my life could get any crazier. Boy, was I was wrong!

School is more demanding then ever right now, it's hard to believe it's going to get worse. The business school is much harder then I imagined. When you enter the business school at the University of Utah, you don't just learn about your field of interest (in my case accounting and marketing), but you learn about all aspects of business. I'm taking management, IT, accounting, etc. My degree doesn't just cover accounting and marketing-it covers everything involved in the business world. I'm not sure why I have to take IT classes or entrepreneur classes. I don't really care about RAM, cashe, or database design. I didn't know fully what I was getting into. A business major is tough.

I do love my accounting class. The rules and organization are interesting to me. The concepts are hard and I have to study a lot, but I feel like I picked the right major.

Work is good, but crazy. Not only do I do the bookkeeping, QuickBooks, and pay bills for the company, but I also do ordering for the lab, write press releases, and schedule our consultant's trips. This job has enabled me to grow so much in business already. I actually learned how to set up an Ethernet system and how to reconcile bank statements. This job is a little like the business school. I do the IT stuff, the marketing, and the accounting. I get a little bit of each aspect of business everyday I come into the office. I can't believe how lucky I've been.

Recently, I became Vice President of Finance in Pi Phi, which in reality is treasurer. This job is another that surprised me. I wanted to be VPF so that I would be free of the planning, of getting people to realize the importance of attendance, and so I would have less responsibility. Again, I was wrong on that part. VPF is a constant job. Unlike the other positions I have had, I constantly have things to do as VPF. I pay the bills, track the budget, ensure girl's are paying on time, and do reimbursements. On the bright side, this position is great experience for my major and I am understanding finances much more. Plus, it will be great for my resume. I can't imagine not being on exec in Pi Phi. I have such a love for the organization. Plus, this position has given me the ability to understand how Pi Phi works on the business side, which is extremely interesting!

My days are packed full. I go to morning classes, work, then night classes. I hardly have time for anything. Then again, I have always been one who likes a busy life. I never thought life could get too busy for me and as of now, I don't think it is. But add one more thing on my plate and I will be getting NO sleep!

On a positive note- my New Year's Resolutions are going great! I'm working out at least 3x a week I've even lost 7 pounds!!, I'm studying more, and I'm hanging out with the girls more (with the little time that I have!)

Recently...

My smile has faded. Dark circles are beginning to find a home under my eyes. I haven't worn jeans in days. My breakfast, lunch, and dinner consist of extreme amounts of caffeine. I twitter about fiscal policy and deficits. I can't remember the last time I washed my hair. Suddenly WebCT is the new Facebook. Graphs and vocab words are bouncing around in my head.

Must be finals week.

Neglected

Oh hello blog. I forgot you existed for a little while there. I apologize. But, I've found you again. You have been nagging me for days to visit you. And, I finally did. Oh my, I have so much to catch you up on.

School is going good. I LOVE ECONOMICS. My teacher is hilarious and the topics have yet to bore me. I think that is the only class that I haven't fallen asleep in yet. I love learning about the business world. I'm also taking calc (don't get me started...), nutrition (a class which makes me feel guilty daily...especially when I take a sip of my diet coke), and music (yesterday, I listened to four different variations of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star...real interesting...??). The semester has started off well. I even got an 94% on my first econ test!

Living in Pi Phi is AMAZING. If only I could explain to you how much I LOVE living in the sorority house....but it's impossible. I love it far too much. I have someone to do stuff with ALWAYS. And it's so freaking cute to come down to the kitchen and see 5 pi phis on their computers studying away. I love the girls. Love the atmosphere. oh...and did I mention that our cook is amazing? I just feel like the luckiest girl alive!

We got 32 new Pi Phi pledges. They are so FREAKING adorable and I am so stoked to get to know them better. Next week we have songfest, a competition between all the Greek houses, we basically just make fun of each other in song form, but it's all in good fun! I can't wait to find out the results...ours is cute/hilarious...so winning is defiantly a possibility. Let me rephrase that...winning is defiantly inevitable :)

Here are some pics of my fall life thus far...

Going out with the girls is da bessst.

Winding down.

So, initiation is officially over, for the most part. We only have two more girls to initiate in Pi Phi-but for the most part, my job as Vice President Fraternity Development, is done. WOW! I had NO IDEA how much time, effort, and work this position would take. I am so happy I decided to slate. Becoming VPFD has probably been one of the highlights of my freshman year. I have learned SO much about Pi Phi. I have learned the heritage, the history, and the importance of everything we do. It has made me grow in so many ways. It has reached parts of my soul that I never thought would be touched-it made me apprechaite being a woman. It made me love-even more-the bonds of sisterhood. I wish I could explain in full detail what Pi Beta Phi has come to mean to me, but words could never express it.

It's just a RELIEF initiation is over!!!!

After the month of constant Pi Phi planning, I realize how much I have let my school work slip. I now realize that there are about 2 and a half weeks left of school. And I have a couple of things to worry about:

*20 page paper due in Econ by the 29th of April
*Econ test
*Anthropology Final
*Final acting performance
*Philosophy final

So, I guess I'm just here to write a quick post explaining my recent-and future-absence.

I have to say, life without blogging is no way to live! Everyday I wish I had more time to blog and write down my feelings, but at this point in my life, there is just NO WAY.

I just pray these next 2 and a half weeks fly by. I just hope I can stay focused and motivated on my school work

Wish me luck!

Procrastination

I read this quote once that said 'if it weren't for procrastination, I wouldn't get anything done'

This quote is so me. I have to admit, I'm the worst at procrastinating.

Isn't it strange that we find anything else to do other then the thing that actually needs done?

I've been procrastinating on school work every since I can remember. If I have a paper due or a test on a certain day, I tend to wait until the very last second to start studying/writing.

Is it because I enjoy the anticipation? The "rush" of getting something in before the time it's due?
-or-
Is it because I'm just lazy and would rather facebook/blog?

For example, I have an anthropology test tomorrow, yet here I am blogging about my procrastination....funny...ironic I guess...

Ugh. I need to cure this. I need to get super motivated weeks before assignments are due or tests approach.

I guess I justify it by getting a good grade on every test I've studied for or paper I have written at the last second. It's never really resulted in me failing. I did fail one class last semester-math. But that's because I only went the first month of math class, realized I would never catch up, and pretty much gave up. In all my other classes I never got below a B and it was all done with procrastination.

I guess I just have to force myself to stop this laziness. To realize that hey...maybe if I study sooner rather then later I wont get so anxious, stressed, etc. I'll be completely calm and ready for my exam

Then again, where's the excitement in that?

Welp, I'm off to study this anthro...that is, unless I find facebook more appealing...I hope not.
